Show Review Christian Dior Spring 2012

Christian Dior is still in search of a definitive head designer after John Galliano’s unceremonious departure last fall. Bill Gaytten has taken the reins during this transitional time, and seems to have suggested safe, refined, elegance for Spring 2012.

Waves aren’t always needed to wow the crowd, so waves weren’t provided. Gorgeous jackets slightly nipped at the waist were placed with patterned A-line skirts, strappy sandals, and simple leather bags.

While undoubtedly pretty, a strong designer’s directional hand was clearly missing.

Gaytten’s skill shined, however, in glorious evening gowns, which floated down the runway in goddess inspired silhouettes with effortless asymmetrical hems.

The rest was lovely and simple; but we’ve come to expect more from the historic house.

Can’t wait to see what the new designer has in store, whoever he (or she) may be.
What say you?
